Five more meetings were held between October and December and a set of rules was developed. The league was officially formed in 1870 and the first world championship was held in Germany. Soccer laws vary from country to country. The US and Canada have adopted different rules while the US and Australia have their own. However, the United States and many European countries do not follow FIFA rules. In some countries, there are no international rules for the game. The game is played on a rectangular field that is 100 or 130 meters long, 45 to 90 meters wide and three to five meters deep. Each team has 11 players, including a goalkeeper, striker and midfielder. The strikers pass and dribble (with their feet) the ball to their teammates. Defensive players try to stop the opponent by intercepting passes or tackling the ball, which is when a player steals the ball from the opponent.
